Ian Gatt
Ian Gatt MSc OMT MAACP MCSP SRP BSc (Hons) - Head of Performance Services & Lead Physiotherapist for GB Boxing - has been a sport physiotherapist for over 20 years, with a considerable time spent managing the sports science and medical services for the Great Britain Boxing program. He has supported diverse athletes on their path to success through Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, and current Tokyo 2020 Olympic cycles. He also forms part of Team Anthony Joshua (Boxing Olympic and Professional Double World Champion), delivering injury reduction and management strategies within a varied multidisciplinary team. Ian is an Upper Limb Injury specialist with the prestigious English Institute of Sport (EIS), providing an advisory role to Olympic and Paralympic Sports, particularly on Hand-Wrist injuries. Further, he offers private specialist consultations on Upper Limb MSK injuries in the UK and Overseas.
Ian is a keen academic having collaborated on various publications associated with Upper Limb sport injuries, as well also undertaking a PhD in Wrist Biomechanics at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). Ian has a passion for teaching, delivering regularly at workshops, conferences and online platforms on diverse topics linked to Upper Limb sport injuries. Further, he is a visiting Lecturer on MSc postgraduate courses at University College London (UCL) and Queen Mary University College London (QMUL).
