HOW TO DEVELOP AGILITY IN ATHLETES

Trust me-Ed

Being agile is not just about hitting perfect shapes. It’s really important that we prime our body and put our body in a position so that it can accelerate forward or left or right. It’s also about giving it the fuel to really move at fast speeds, at high velocities, and that’s why we need to develop the physical capacity that supports it as well.

So how do train agility in athletes?

1. Help them develop the ability to interpret appropriate cues

2. Teach the athlete how to do turns

3. Teach deceleration for sharper turns

4. Teach top speed mechanics

5. Train how to drive horizontally at high acceleration

6. Plyometric training
